don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.

Much much less a poem.....than a message. Memorize it, so you can repeat the message allowed or quietly, in the brightness as well as the darkness.
If you memorize it, it can never be lost, it will live in your soul, the message can be passed on, even if they burn every book on the planet.
Drink up. there is work to be done.
Makes me wonder if my life is what the words expressed
The more I read this poem, the more I see what a tortured soul Bukowski was. It's a shame that so much of his work went unpublished, it seems like he would have been more successful if he would have been published sooner.

The fact that this was co-opted by Levis grates on me... I doubt Mr. Bukowski was referring to apparel here. but it is incredible all the same.
if somebody knows, in what book can I find this one! besides, please advice me some books of poetry by Bukowski (except Mockingbird wish me luck).
